Joining Communitech’s Venture Services program
If you’re running a small technology or digital media company — or thinking about turning your idea into a business, our Venture Services program can:
- Talk through your idea and help you validate it as a business
- Give you access to market research
- Help you understand how your venture will make money – and how much
- Map the trajectory of your success story for employees, partners, investors
- Work to help you prepare, justify and sell that story
- Determine who you should tell the story to — and when
- Help you make connections
- Keep you appraised of new sources of funding, events and success stories across Canada
Our Process
Working with Communitech Venture Services Group starts with filling out our application form. You don’t need to have more than an idea, but do you need to be ready to do you homework.

Complete our online form to get connected with Communitech and tell us about your venture.
In most cases we’ll meet with you face-to-face as well. If you need them, we recommend tools, templates and reading materials to help you get started. Including:

Meet your Venture Services advisor (usually an Executive-in-Residence)

Enroll in entrepreneurial learning and training programs
We periodically offer specialized training or educational sessions. For example, we recently gave a number of our startups free access to a two-day Product Management seminar from Pragmatic Marketing.

Deepen the Engagement
After one or two meetings, you may get some takeaways that require you to go back and do further research or build out a business plan. Whatever the case may be our group of advisors will provide feedback along the way.
There isn’t a “typical” duration to working with a Venture Services advisor but we will support you where we can or refer you to other groups or organizations when we see a fit.
